Terms of Service

The friendly fine print: what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you, when you make a book with Hello Storybook.

Last updated July 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Renji Labs, Inc., the company that operates Hello Storybook (“we,” “us,” “our”), located at 7775 Walton Pkwy, Ste. 100, New Albany, OH 43054, USA. By using our site or ordering a book, you agree to them. We've kept them as plain as we reasonably can.

Who can use Hello Storybook

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to place an order. By creating a book you confirm you are the parent or guardian of the child featured, or otherwise have permission from their parent or guardian.

What we make

We create personalized, AI-illustrated children's books based on the name, details, and reference photo you provide. Books are available as a digital edition, a softcover, and a hardcover keepsake, and every order is backed by our 30-day happiness guarantee (see “Returns & refunds” for how it works for digital versus printed editions).

Because every book is custom-made for one child, each one is unique and produced to order.

Your photo & content

When you upload a photo or provide details, you confirm that:

  • You own the photo or have permission to use it.
  • You have the right to create a personalized book featuring the child shown.
  • The content is not unlawful, offensive, or infringing on anyone else's rights.

You keep all rights to the photos you upload. You grant us a limited license to use them solely to create your book; they are then deleted as described in our Photo & AI Policy.

About the AI-generated artwork

Illustrations are created with AI guided by your photo and choices. The result is a warm, storybook interpretation of your child — a piece of art, not a photographic likeness. Small variations between pages and from the original photo are a normal part of the illustration style. Every order is backed by our 30-day happiness guarantee: if the finished book isn't right, tell us and we'll revise it until you're happy — and for printed books, we'll reprint or refund it (see “Returns & refunds”).

Orders, prices & payment

Prices are shown on the site and may change over time, but the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Your order is confirmed once payment is successfully completed.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order if we suspect fraud, a content violation, or an obvious pricing error — in which case we'll refund any payment in full.

Prices are shown in the currency we display for your region at checkout and exclude any sales tax, VAT, or similar taxes. Where we are required to collect such a tax on your purchase, it is shown at checkout before you pay. For printed books shipped internationally, you are responsible for any import duties or customs charges due on delivery, unless those charges are already included at checkout for your destination.

Delivery

  • Digital editions are delivered electronically by email, usually within about 15–20 minutes of purchase.
  • Softcover and hardcover books are printed to order by our print partner Gelato; shipping options, cost, and an estimated delivery window are shown at checkout once you enter your address.

Delivery estimates are not guarantees. Shipping timelines can be affected by carriers and customs outside our control.

Returns & refunds

Every order is backed by our 30-day happiness guarantee. Because each book is personalized and made to order, we cannot accept returns simply for a change of mind — but we will always work to make your book right. How that works depends on the format:

  • Printed books (softcover & hardcover): If your book isn't right — or arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from what you ordered — contact us within 30 days and we'll reprint it or refund you in full.
  • Digital editions: Because a digital book is delivered electronically and cannot be returned, digital purchases are final once the finished book has been delivered. You're still fully covered by our happiness guarantee: if anything is wrong with your digital book, tell us within 30 days and we'll revise it until you're happy. Refunds on digital editions are issued only at our discretion, for example where we're unable to resolve a genuine quality problem.

Either way, reach out to us — we want you to love it, and a real person will help.

EU & UK right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases made online. Because every Hello Storybook book is made to your specifications and clearly personalized, that right applies differently here:

  • Printed books (softcover & hardcover) are personalized goods — made to your specifications for one particular child — so under Article 16(c) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive and the equivalent UK rules, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to them.
  • Digital editions: by placing your order, you request immediate performance and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal lapses once delivery of your personalized digital content has begun.

Our 30-day happiness guarantee applies regardless, and in practice is more generous than the statutory right (see “Returns & refunds”). Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under applicable law.

Intellectual property

The Hello Storybook name, site, story templates, and brand belong to us. Your finished, personalized book is licensed to you for your personal, non-commercial enjoyment — read it, print extra copies for family, treasure it. Please don't resell our stories or templates or use them commercially without permission.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Hello Storybook to create content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual, or that depicts a child you have no right to feature, and don't attempt to disrupt or misuse the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Disclaimers & liability

The service and everything on the site are provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to make beautiful books and keep the site running, but to the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied — including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — and we don't promise the site will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service or any order. Our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you actually paid for that order. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer-protection laws.

Your indemnity to us

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Renji Labs, Inc., its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal costs arising out of: the photos or content you submit; your breach of these Terms; or your violation of any law or of someone else's rights (for example, uploading a photo you didn't have permission to use). This is the practical flip-side of the promises you make in “Your photo & content” above.

Governing law & dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA — the state in which Renji Labs, Inc. is incorporated — without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and by applicable U.S. federal law. Any court proceeding these Terms permit will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here removes any protection you're entitled to under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, including any right you have to bring proceedings in your home country's courts.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first — almost everything can be sorted out by a quick, friendly email. We agree to try to resolve any dispute informally for at least 30 days before starting a formal proceeding.

  • If we can't resolve it informally, you and we agree to settle the dispute by binding individual arbitration, seated in the State of Delaware, administered under recognized consumer-arbitration rules, rather than in court — except that either of us may still bring a claim in small-claims court, or seek an injunction to protect intellectual property.
  • To the extent permitted by law, disputes will be handled on an individual basis only: you and we waive any right to a jury trial and to bring or join a class, collective, or representative action.
  • If you're a consumer in a place whose laws don't permit binding arbitration or class-action waivers, these two points don't apply to you, and disputes may be brought in the courts of your home country.
  • You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@hellostorybook.com with the subject line “Arbitration opt-out.”

Any claim relating to the service must be brought within one year after it arises, to the extent permitted by law.

General

  • These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Photo & AI Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service, and replace any earlier understandings.
  • If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect, and the unenforceable part is limited or removed to the smallest extent necessary.
  • If we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, that isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may assign ours to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control — such as natural disasters, outages, carrier or supplier disruptions, or government actions (a “force majeure” event).
  • We may send you notices by email or by posting on the site; you can reach us at hello@hellostorybook.com or by writing to Renji Labs, Inc., 7775 Walton Pkwy, Ste. 100, New Albany, OH 43054, USA.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution — survive.

Changes & contact

We may update these Terms as our product evolves; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept the changes.
